Different developmental projects worth Rs 140 million have been proposed by city district govt for the purpose. Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain held a meeting at Arfa Kareem Nagar and review the developmental projects on the spot. DCO Muhammad Amin Ch;, father of Arfa Kareem Colonel Amjad Kareem (Retd) and officers from different departments were also present on the occasion. The meeting was informed that a monument would be constructed at the grave of Arfa Kareem besides establishment of Library and Museum in the premises.
The Commissioner said that Girls Degree College and Technical Training Centre would also be set up in this village besides up gradation of boys and girls schools and basic health unit. The establishment of play ground, improvement of drainage scheme, pavement of streets, provision of portable water and agriculture equipment's were also be included in the scheme for developing the Arfa Kareem Nagar as model village, he added.
The divisional commissioner directed the MD PHA to device planning the landscaping of the area and asked the other officers to accelerate the departmental measures for taking up the schemes. DCO Muhammad Amin Chaudhry informed that the concerned departments had been mobilised for the finalisation of proposed development schemes for the model village.
Amjad Kareem thanked the CM Punjab on recognition of achievements of late Arfa Kareem and making her village as model for the long time memory of World Microsoft Certified Professional Arfa Kareem. He told that the first death anniversary of late Arfa Kareem would be observed on 14th January 2013.
